Approved minutes of the Commissioners’ meetings for June 4 and 11, 2007.
Recognized one employee retiring this month: Kaye O’Brien.
Recognized winners of the Caring, Serving and Respecting Customers award: Mike Bachman, Public Safety; Kristen O’Daly, Community Services; and Lisa Cauley, Lisa McNair and Betty Rowland, of Human Services.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
Approved final revisions to the FY07 General Fund budget.
Approved a three-year Microsoft Enterprise agreement for licensing of SQL database service software and Sharepoint server software and associated desktop client access licenses for use throughout the County organization.
Adopted the Wake County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Annual Plan and certification for FY 2007-2008 and affixed signatures on appropriate forms to receive $1,166,263 in state funds from the NC Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
Authorized the County Manager to enter into a three-year agreement with Western Wake Fire Department, Inc., for furnishing transportation services in connection with Medical Examiner examinations of deceased persons in Wake County.
Authorized the County Manager to execute the multi-year interlocal agreement for Phase VI of the Triangle Area Water Supply Monitoring Project.
Authorized the Commissioners’ Chairman to execute a voluntary annexation petition allowing the Town of Fuquay-Varina to annex the 53.27 acres jointly owned by Wake County and the Wake County Board of Education for the construction of the new Banks Road Elementary School in the town of Fuquay-Varina.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Approved the sale of the Ponderosa Wastewater Treatment System and associated 32.27-acre parcel (Wake County Tax ID# 0094751) under the upset bid process.
Adopted the Wake County fiscal year 2008 operating and capital budgets.
Approved an operating budget for the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau for Fiscal Year 2008 in the amount of $4,007,500.
Approved the proposed Wake County 2007-2008 Secondary Road Program.
Authorized the County Manager to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the North Carolina Museum of Art Foundation for appropriation from the County portion of Occupancy and Prepared Food Tax Revenues.
Approved resolutions stating intent to file applications with the Local Government Commission for approval of proposed Open Space, Wake Technical Community College, and Library bonds and authorizing publication of notices of intent.
Held a public hearing to consider renewing Rex Hospital’s ambulance franchise for operation of a medical care transportation service for convalescent-care transport in Wake County. The second reading and approval will be on the consent agenda at the Board of Commissioners’ meeting on July 9, 2007.
Held a public hearing on and tabled until the Board of Commissioners’ August 20, 2007, meeting a proposal to rezone 19.98 acres located on the northern side of Poole Road between Golden Field Drive and Smithfield Road from Residential-30 (R-30) to conditional use-heavy commercial.
Approved a request from the Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2000 funds.
Approved a request from the Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate CIP 2006.
Approved a request from the Board of Education for land acquisition for school sites E-31 and M-12 in the Garner area.
Received the first reading of a request from the Board of Education for land acquisition for an elementary school in Cary (E-30) and placed the item on the July 9, 2007, agenda.
Received the first reading of a request from the Board of Education for land acquisition for school site M-6 in Rolesville and placed the item on the July 9, 2007, agenda.
Authorized the County Manager to enter into an agreement for FY 2008 with ReEntry, Inc., for continued operation and management of the Wake Pretrial Services Program and for in-kind support of establishment of a failure-to-appear pilot program.
Tabled until July 9, 2007, meeting, action on conveyance of a permanent sewer easement and temporary construction easement to the Town of Holly Springs for the purposes of constructing new gravity sewer lines to provide services to pending new development within the town.
Authorized acquisition of an easement that enables Wake County to begin construction of a new downtown parking deck from Jim Trotter, T-Square Partnership, for $35,000.
