Approved minutes of the Commissioners’ meeting of January 17, 2006.
Recognized retiring employees serving a minimum of 25 years with Wake County Government: Harry Vassilion, General Services Administration, and David E. Carter, Community Services.
Recognized the presentation of a Special Citation Award from the North Carolina Park and Recreation Association to David Moore.
Endorsed a proclamation recognizing February 2006 as Women’s Heart Health Month in Wake County.
Received Plan to Prevent Youth Gang Activity & Violence in Wake County, prepared by the Wake County Gang Prevention Partnership task force, and asked the task force to prepare an implementation plan for the Board of Commissioners’ consideration.
Received an update on the North Wake Landfill Post Closure Master Plan.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
Resolution setting date for advertisement of tax liens.
Budget amendment to the Workforce Development Project Ordinance.
Acceptance of grant from the North Carolina Foundation for Soil & Water Conservation, Inc., and approval of grant agreement for the Perry Farm Agricultural Conservation Easement acquisition.
Tax committee recommendations for value adjustments, late filed applications, collections refunds and tax collections report.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Held a public hearing and adopted Ordinance Amendment OA 05/11 to create a new zoning district, entitled the Residential Highway Commercial District, for inclusion in the Unified Development Ordinance.
Approved allocation of $100,000 in funding for Communities in Schools.
Tabled action related to funding of up to $37,500 for preparation of a feasibility study for a possible multipurpose stadium to be located in Raleigh.
Awarded a construction contract to Raleigh Durham Construction Company in the amount of $528,805 for the alterations to the Riley Hill Family Life Center.
Approved the request from Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2000 funds.
Approved the request from Wake County Board of Education to recognize Pre-Plan 2000 and Plan 2000 savings, and to appropriate and reallocate those savings to Plan 2004.
Approved the request from Wake County Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate Plan 2004 funds.
Tabled action on the Wake County Board of Elections’ recommendation to purchase new voting equipment that complies with North Carolina State Statutes. This item will be considered at the Board of Commissioners’ work session Monday, February 13, at 2 p.m., in the Ground-Floor Conference Center of the Waverly F. Akins Wake County Office Building, 337 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh.
Made appointments to Wake County Stormwater Management Task Force, with Commissioner Kenn Gardner appointed to serve as chairperson.
Made appointments to various boards, commissions and committees.
