Proclaimed September 25, 2006, as “Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner With Your Children” in Wake County.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
Three-year agreement with Olver, Inc., to provide solid waste consulting and engineering services at the South Wake Landfill.
Accepting an increase in the Criminal Justice Partnership Program state grant award of $58,450 for the expansion of Wake County Day Reporting Center programs.
Authorization for Wake County’s Work First Block Grant program to apply to the State as a “Standard” County program that will adopt and follow State guidelines for Work First.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Held a public hearing and approved amendments to the Fuquay-Varina/Garner Area Land Use Plan Map and the General Classifications Map of the Wake County Land Use Plan.
Received a report on the request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2004 funds. This item will be placed on the October 2, 2006, agenda.
Received a report on the request from the Wake County Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate Plan 2004 funds. This item will be placed on the October 2, 2006, consent agenda.
Received a report on the request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2000 funds. This item will be placed on the October 2, 2006, agenda.
Confirmed that the County has no interest in acquiring three properties that have been declared surplus by the Wake County Board of Education and directed that the funds received from the sale of these properties be applied to reduce the County's bonded indebtedness for schools or for future land acquisitions for schools.
Accepted dedication of an additional 1.462 acres of open space along Swift Creek and authorized execution of documents to transfer drainage and slope easements and to accept the proposed realignment of Parkland Grove Boulevard and placement of the easements.
Accepted recurring funds from the North Carolina Division of Child Development for Child Care Subsidy, totaling $5,026,808 for Fiscal Year 2007, and established 4.0 FTEs to administer the Child Care Subsidy Program.
Approved an additional allocation of $60,000 to provide pass-through funds to the First-in-Families project at Community Partnerships, Inc.
Authorized the County Manager to sign an agreement with BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina establishing a reimbursement system for emergency medical services rendered to BlueCross BlueShield policyholders.
Approved a motion to request that the Human Services Board make a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners concerning the continuum of care for mental health services and an inpatient mental health facility. The Human Services Board is requested to present the recommendation by October 2, 2006, and to have:
included and considered stakeholder input;
evaluated the current continuum of care and identified any gaps;
considered options for the inpatient mental health facility.
The recommendation would further describe how the proposed solution would be implemented and a general framework for the capital and operating costs.
