Recognized members of the "Let's Get to Work" Initiative for receiving an award from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Received a report on the Wake County launch of the National Association of Counties Prescription Drug Card Program.
Proclaimed the week of October 7-13, 2007, Fire Prevention Week in Wake County.
Responded to a WRAListens segment pertaining to school construction funding of Wake County Public Schools and received comments from Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
Approved a request for Interactive Medical Systems to administer the Dental and Flexible Spending Account programs for calendar year 2008, subject to terms and conditions acceptable to the County Attorney.
Approved appropriation increases in the Grants and Donations Fund for the Metropolitan Medical Response System Grant money that will be moved from the general fund and revised the budget accordingly.
Approved the Tax Committee recommendations for value adjustments, late filed applications, collections refunds and tax collections report and consideration of refund of excise tax – Register of Deeds.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Held a public hearing on Schedules of Values for the 2008 countywide revaluation.
Held a public hearing and adopted a resolution to rename a section of Keith Road as Chestley Farm Road.
Held a public hearing and approved a $624,611 grant application to the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation for the Rural Operating Assistance Program.
Received the first reading of a request from the Wake County Board of Education for the reallocation of CIP 2006 funds. This item will be placed on the October 15, 2007, agenda.
Approved the acquisition of 2.66 acres from the Wake County Board of Education for $450,000 and revised the budget to reduce the County's reimbursement to the WCPSS for CIP expenditures.
Approved an agreement with KRG/Prisa II Parkside, LLC for the relocation of the Wake County RTP Radio Communications Tower.
Approved offering voluntary eye care insurance options for employees through VSP as the service provider, subject to terms and conditions acceptable to the County Attorney.
Approved appointments to the Wake County Board of Human Services, Wake County Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee and the Wake County Fire Commission.
