Approved minutes of the September 18 and September 20, 2006, Commissioners’ meetings.
Recognized Ken Atkins, Executive Director, Wake County Economic Development, and his staff for receiving the first-place award for its Precision Marketing Campaign in the category of General Purpose Promotion during the International Economic Development Council’s annual conference.
Proclaimed the week of October 8-14, 2006, as Fire Prevention Week in Wake County.
Recognized 18 Wake County fire departments for receipt of the Residential Fire Safety Institute’s “Life Safety Achievement Award.”
Recognized five employees for outstanding customer service: Blanca Brito and Noel Pellish from Human Services; Jay Randall and Jeffery Taylor of Public Safety; and Timothy Tuck of General Services were honored for winning the quarterly Caring, Serving and Respecting Customers awards.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
Request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2004 funds.
Request from the Wake County Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate Plan 2004 funds.
Request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2000 funds.
Tax Committee recommendations for value adjustments, late-filed applications, collections refunds and tax collections report.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Approved a grant of $50,000 per year for three years to the East Wake Education Foundation.
Awarded a construction contract to D.A. Thomas Construction Company, Inc., of Louisburg, NC, in the amount of $4,440,000 for the proposed Northern Regional Center.
Passed resolutions declaring the official intent of the County to reimburse expenditures with proceeds of debt.
Made appointments to the Wake County Commission for Women and the Wake County Fire Commission.
Made various committee reports.
