Approved minutes of the Commissioners’ meetings for February 19 and 21, 2007.
Received a report from the Wake County Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee, which included an update on the committee’s plans for 2007.
Proclaimed the week of March 25 - 31, 2007, as Doctors Week in Wake County.
Recognized four retiring employees serving a minimum of 25 years with Wake County Government: Luna Toler and Donna Yacout from Human Services; Mike Ferrell from the County Attorney’s Office; and Johnny Graves from the Sheriff’s Office.
Approved by consent all agenda items as follows:
A budget revision increasing the Sheriff's Office expenditure budget by $104,882 with a fund balance appropriation of $94,082 and a revenue budget increase of $10,800
Acceptance of $10,500 in 60/40 matching federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of the Interior for completion of Phase II of the Wake County Architectural Survey Update.
Application for FY 2008 NC Department of Correction Criminal Justice Partnership Program grant funding for Wake Day Reporting Center to be submitted on Wake County’s behalf by Carolina Correctional Services, Inc.
Waiver of the tipping fee at the North Wake Landfill for waste collected by the Neuse River Foundation and their partners during the clean up event on April 14, 2007.
Conveyance of a ten-foot wide easement to Progress Energy Carolinas for the installation of underground electrical service across County-owned property at the site of the West Regional Library.
Conveyance of 2,112 square feet of electric utility easement and 290 square feet of combined slope and electric utility easement to the City of Raleigh at no cost.
Multi-year lease agreement with S&K Partnership for 3,771 square feet of office space located at 150 Cornerstone Drive, Cary, NC, for the Western Wake Human Services Center at $15.65 per square foot and in accordance with terms and conditions acceptable to the County Attorney.
Award of a demolition and site preparation contract for the Davie Street Parking Deck to D.H. Griffin Wrecking Co. of Raleigh in the amount of $ 396,800.
Authorization of the Chairman to sign a voluntary annexation petition allowing the City of Raleigh to annex the 420-acre Randleigh property.
Tax Committee recommendations for value adjustments, late-filed applications, collections refunds, and tax collections report.
Acted on these items under the regular agenda:
Approved up to $21,000 in funding for an Emergency District Court Judge, two days per week, to preside over the available 5th floor traffic courtroom through October 30, 2007.
Adopted agreement with Wake County Board of Education regarding construction of new schools and major renovation of existing schools.
Approved a request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2000 funds.
Approved a request from the Wake County Board of Education to reallocate Plan 2004 funds.
Received a request from the Wake County Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate Plan 2004 funds.
Received request from the Wake County Board of Education to appropriate and reallocate CIP 2006 funds.
Considered purchase of property declared surplus by the Wake County Board of Education:
Confirmed that the County has no interest in acquiring the properties located on Kildaire Farm Road and the Old Carver School property.
Confirmed that the County has an interest in acquiring the property located on Country Trail.
Directed the funds received from the sale of these properties be applied to reduce the County’s bonded indebtedness for schools or for future land acquisitions for schools.
Approved the receipt of the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources grant funds in the amount of $180,500 for a project entitled, “An Integrated Approach to Watershed Management Planning and Implementation in Selected Watersheds of the Falls Lake Reservoir,” and appropriated fiscal year 2007 funds in the amount of $28,100.
Received the presentation and offered input into the proposed Implementation Plan for Phase 2 Improvements at the Hammond Road Detention Center.
Approved the exchange of real property between Wake County and Concord-Empire Davie Street, LLC, consistent with the notice published in the News & Observer on March 2, 2007.
Made appointments to various boards, commissions and committees.
